Dec 15 2007: Monty appears as Celebrity Judge at Float Gallery

Monty made a celebrity appearance at the Float Center Gallery in Berkeley, CA judging their "Robots are Art" contest.

Oct 26 2007: Robo Development conference in San Jose

Monty and Dexter performed for the crowds at the Robo Development conference in San Jose. Dexter walked across the booth every half hour, and Monty performed continuously at his table, demonstrating his skills with balls and cups, wiping down the table, and handing out business cards. In a breakthrough moment in robotics, Monty used his hands to drive one of Willow Garage's robots while Dexter stood on and watched -- 3 robots performing simultaneously.

Aug 9th 2007: Company Cookout

A weekly cookout has become a bit of a tradition here at Anybots. And to mourn the end of the summer, we'd like to invite all FOD (Friends of Dexter) to our last one of the season. There will be plenty of good food and drinks to go around. Oh, and if you're lucky, you might even be waited on by Monty!

Organizers:
Dan Casner, the expert robot handler (in charge of the demonstrations)
Sam, the master chef (in charge of the grill)

Cookout
Date: Saturday, August 18th
Time: Starts around 12, food's served at 12:30PM.
Place: Anybots HQ.
Address: 320 Pioneer Ave, Mountain View, CA

RSVP here so we know how many to plan for.

Mar 1 2007: Dexter Jumps

After seeing the video we put out a few days ago, several people asked if the robot would be able to jump, so I tried it. Watch the video.

You can see in the screen shot of our analysis tool below that the hang time was about 390 milliseconds. (The colorful part shows the forces on the feet, which are near zero when it's in the air.) The body got 150 mm (6") above its standing height, and the feet 280 mm (11") off the ground. The longest claim I've heard for humanoid "in the air" time is 80 milliseconds for ASIMO, so we're almost 5X longer, corresponding to 25X higher (height varies with the square of time.)

Feb 26 2007: Anybots announces the world's first dynamically balancing walking humanoid robot.
